Swaps

A snail mail swap checklist that keeps it fair.

Clear limits make swaps more fun and less awkward.

A snail mail swap is easiest when everyone understands the size, theme, deadline, and privacy expectations before envelopes are addressed.

Agree on the basics

Keep it envelope-safe

For standard mail, choose flat paper items: stickers on backing, bookmarks, quote cards, washi samples, recipe cards, or stationery sheets. Avoid food, liquids, powders, breakables, and anything that could leak or tear the envelope.

Privacy and consent

Do not share someone's address with a group unless they gave permission. If photos of received mail are posted publicly, cover names, addresses, barcodes, and personal details.

Fairness check

Before sealing, ask: does this match the agreed theme, size, and budget? If yes, write a short note explaining what you included and why.
